Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flint & Genesee County advocates Summertime Learning at Flushing County Parks in Flushing, MI
Event Marking National Summer Learning Week 2019 Will Be One of Hundreds Across the Nation Aimed at Keeping Kids Learning, Healthy and Safe this Summer
Flint, MI– Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flint & Genesee County will highlight the importance of summer learning opportunities during National Summer Learning Week-July 8th-13th. Big Brothers Big Sisters’ Summer Learning event is July 9, 2019 from 4:00 pm-7:00 pm at Flushing County Park (Pavilion 1), 4417 McKinley Road, Flushing, MI.
Big Brothers Big Sisters hosts this annual event to promote family and community engagement while encouraging continued learning throughout the summer months. Research supports that youth have an increased risk of falling behind – year after year – in core subjects like math and reading without access to quality learning opportunities. Providing learning-rich activities empowers youth to build their biggest possible futures.
The Community Foundation of Greater Flint — Flushing Area Community fund has provided financial support for Big Brothers Big Sisters’ Flushing Mentoring Engagement project, which aligns with the agency’s strategic plan to increase engagement throughout Genesee County. We encourage Flushing Community members to attend.
Youth, families and matches will also have the opportunity to enjoy a STEM activity, bounce house, refreshments, entertainment and much more. There is no cost to attend the event. Please contact Big Brothers Big Sisters at 810-235-0617 for more information.
